Good Bass for Beginners List

This best guitar bass list is not arranged in order, because I've just own one of these. The prices are under or discount to under 300 dollars. You may found it lows on Black Friday or Amazon Black Friday Deals Week 2013 that starts on November 25. The title lead to its review, check it out.

Yamaha made this 4 strings bass in China. It has an agathis body, 24 Frets, 34" scale, bolt-on maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, dual classic-style pickups made by Yamaha, and passive electronics. The body looks unique and well balance. Fingerboard is excellent to fret all the way up to the base. The tuners are great, the bass stays in tune for days if you don't plunk something to the headstock.

It has the best tone, nice playable neck and a really cool look

I read reviews and opinions of the Ibanez GSR200 in lots of comments. Ibanez GSR200 is a popular entry-level bass. The body is Agathis with a rosewood fingerboard and medium sized frets. The Bass with preamp for only 175. Overall this bass has more features than most beginner needs, and the quality is better than most too.

Someone say this P-bass can compete with others in the $200 - $300 range. It sounds awesome right out of the box but you really must go through little adjustments before it becomes playable.

EB-3 come with a mahogany body and neck with a 1960s SlimTaper profile. The headstock has a Sloped Dovewing and a vintage style Epiphone logo pearloid inlay.A big sidewinder humbucker in the neck and Epiphone mini humbucker in the in the bridge.

Controls include a 3 way swith pickup selector, volume knobs for each pickup and also 2 tone knob. EB-3 have epiphone quality electronics outdo all of the other basses in this price range.

This affordable fender has feel and tone of the original. Rosewood fretboard, maple neck, sculpted alder body, 2 vintage style single-coil J bass pickups, and a vintage bridge

If you look for alternative,  Little Gem Basses can be a great project bass or just a good bass starter for you.

Epiphone EB-3 Review

NevadaMusicUK review this video

Epiphone EB-3 Bass could seem a bit expensive for beginers, but it is a real bargain for a bass on this quality, and it can be used by an entry level player for many years. Some cheaper beginner basses may not be able to be used for anything rather than just practicing because they are either too hard to play, don't stay in tune, or just really not sound very good. That is not with the Epiphone EB3 Bass. You can actually use this bass for semi-pro purposes. However the EB-3 will not responsively for all types of music, a sound that won't be suitable to more modern or funk. This is not a bass that will be suit for slapping or for a percussive type of playing. It is best suited for producing a deep, low end, room filling bottom, and not really appropriate for a funky percussive slap tone.

 Sounds really good!

Squier Affinity Jazz Bass Review

Pros
  • Fender Jazz Bass design
  • value-priced instrument
Cons
  • the output of the pickups are low

I've seen several bassist in forums and reviews, and I must say, this is the most they say. Keep in mind I have small budget and I bought RBX170 because it's one available choice. Let's talk back to Squier Affinity, the fretwork was flawless, the neck comfortable and body is solid, tuners look cheap but are performing.  The tone on Squier Affinity is wonderful, they compare a squier p bass with a jazz. It This bass gets lovely tone that others that cost much more don't reach.

If you want a decent bass with that classic fender look, this is absolutely the one to get.

Epiphone Goth ThunderBird-IV Bass, Plain Black Review -copy-

Pros: Well Made, Simple, Cheap, Good Sound, Fast Neck. This bass is a very good value for the money.
Cons: Versatile and Neck-heavy

"Incredibird
This bass is sick, I've played plenty of high end basses and though I didn't really expect it to blow them out of the water this bass surely holds its own. i was playing a schecter stiletto studio 4 right before I picked up this bass and when I played this epiphone I was definately suprised. firstly this bass is sturdy, it felt pretty light compared to the other 5 and 6 string basses ive played, the action was flawless. this thing plays smooth. it sounds incredible, the tone was amazing even with the manufacturer strings. The body is sleek and cool looking it definately has a lot of character. I never thought I would actually want an epiphone as much as i do now but they have sold me on this bass next paycheck im definately going to get it." Best Ibanez GSR200 Review

The Ibanez GSR200 4-String Bass can be a very hot  bass with wonderful balance and feel for friendly price tag.

This  review is not mine. It has discussion in bass forums about first bass they've owned. I got the point  after enjoy reading words for about a year before I got my first bass. Here comes my conclusion. It has solid construction , Its tone is clarity nice. It's active bass(understand Active and Passive Bass Pickups)- the Bass Boost, though a nice touch, forces you to use a battery. The bridge is alright. The neck is nice and thin. The tuning heads are average at best.

The SX Bass!!

I've been interested in an SX while I just bought my first bass, It's sad also impossible to ship to the country plus tax. So, after reading all the positive comments about them. I search for Youtube for covers and reviews to tell you here.

SX Ursa P Review
If you like the look of the Fender Precision Bass, then you'd be very happy with an SX bass guitar for sure. The price $70 less than the Squier, the SX Bass truly is a fantastic instrument for the price. Its a great little project bass. The beginners and who looking to get into something new would definitely be happy with SX Bass.

Must watch if interest, Reviewed by Rumblin Man

Other SX models

You can purchased directly from Rondo Music official site online easy via >>>rondomusic.com <<<
  • SX Ursa 2 (RN/MN) Ash:

It is comparable to Squier Affinity J, for half the price, ash bodies, better hardware and better pickups (IMHO). Right now(11/23/2013), the natural with blocked rosewood  fretboard is $125 on sale!

  • SX Ursa 2 Hum: The SX bass,  J style with a MM style passive humbucking bridge pickup, it has a wider tonal pallet when compared to the standard jazz pickup arrangement. This is an extremely versatile bass. And it's very inexpensive. It would be about half the cost of the 'Deluxe.' And maybe a quarter of the the cost of the MUSICMAN Stingray! Good luck deciding.

  • SX Andromeda:  The body alone is worth the price

  • SX Ursa 3 P/J:
Precision and Jazz style pickups, 2 vol 1 tone knobs, bottom-mount jack, alder body, maple neck with gloss finish, rosewood fretboard, 34" scale, "vintage" style bridge and tuners. Weight is about 8 lbs.

  • Douglas NB-C2: Trans Black finish on sale for 135

Shipping cost:  I test by add bass to cart, the shipping cost between 17-31 dollars. Don't forget to buy bass amplifier, you may search in craiglist or buy a new one.

I bought Yamaha RBX 170

Finally I got this bass, I decided to buy this model because it' s best cheapest from Yamaha and it's only choice available in local store to test.
The RBX 170 has four strings, light weight alder body and passive controls that sound pretty good. Some reviewers said that tuners are shit but I found it's really always keeping in tune, the neck and body also pretty well well-balanced. To tell the truth I believe it had been the best option I ever made available during my existence. I would recommend that for almost any novice.
