In my case the bass center of balance is between the strap button and the 'balancer'. And I adjust both end to share bass weight equally.
You can make a good looking 'balancer' out of a soft belt or a leather strap that match your bass body.
If you don't care the look too much, this method will save you hundreds of dollar.
